My first post from a Google Summit!

Inspired by the 2nd day keynote at this year's GAFE Summit Boston by @, as well as what I learned in those two days,  I have taken the plunge and will begin blogging about being a "disruptor of learning" and "finding the adjacent possible" to create inspired lessons that meet the needs of today's language learners. Focusing on current language learning methodologies and pedagoicial principles, I will use use Google inspired tools and philosophies to  create "bionic" and "restless binge" language learners.  Hence  the title "LangGoogle."  I am also taking my inspiration another step further by publicly delcaring my goal of becoming a Google Apps for Education Certified Teacher by year's end...Oh là là.

Here are my #gafesummit "take aways" that gave me the courage to begin this Google inspired Language blog journey....

  • Don't just create technology lovers. Show them WHAT can do with it. Teach them to use it to be critical thinkers.
  • Use those seconds well.
  • Help kids create the digital footprint they will be proud of as their future self.
  • Disrupt the things we hate about our own jobs. Change education: teaching and learning on its head. Change the future work force.
  • Make thinking visible + student voice + sharing work = effective and purposeful technology integration.
  • Kids are being shhhed all day. They want to talk. Our classrooms should sound like coffee shops.
  • There is no room in our brain for trivial info if there is going to be room to question, think and explore.
  • The world isn't a place to memorize, but a place to explore. Asking questions are important. Teach kids this!
  • Google can guess what you are going to ask after 3 words because we are not good question askers. Teach kids to ask questions.
  • BE the phenom of "I can't get enough." BINGE LEARNING. Make restless learners of your students.

  • Kids with technology are Bionic learners.
  • Search for your "Captain my captain" moment. Be the disruption of learning that challenges the traditional model of teaching and learning.
  • SCHOOL IS PREDICTABLE. Do something different. Students will thank you.
CHALLENGE ACCEPTED!
Stay tuned for Google Inspired Language Lessons...once my brain is recharged. That was one inspiring weekend!
